Highly sensitive micromechanical cantilever–magnetometry on nanostructured electron systems — •M. A. Wilde, S. Groth, M. P. Schwarz, D. Grundler, Ch. Heyn, and D. Heitmann — University of Hamburg, Jungiusstr. 11, 20355 Hamburg
We have developed micromechanical cantilever magnetometers which incorporate modulation–doped AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures. These devices have a very high sensitivity of 10−15 J/T, which makes it possible to study two dimensional electronic systems (2DES). We have inparticular studied samples where the 2DES was patterned into arrays of quantum dots or wires using holographic lithography. Our sensors also have the potential to deposit self–organized quantum dots, prepared by wet chemical method, onto to the cantilever.
