In the last few years a great interest has reappeared in manganese perovskites due to the CMR effect reported for La1−xAxMnO3 (A= Sr, Ba, Ca, Pb). Here we present new experimental results of the doped manganese perovskites La1−xBaxMn1−yCo(Ni)yO3, single crystals (x= 0.2 - 0.26, y= 0.12 - 0.22). The electronic structures of these compounds are studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The valence band spectra are compared to those of the reference compounds: La1−xBaxMnO3, LaMnO3 and LaNiO3. The results are discussed in relation to the X-ray emission spectroscopy, magnetic measurements and the available band structure calculations.
