Nitrogen ions scatter under grazing incidence conditions off a missing row
reconstructed Pt(110)(1x2) single crystal surface by varying the primary
energy over a wide range from below 1 keV up to more than 1 MeV. The
experimental energy losses are consistently explained by a theoretical
model based on trajectory and stopping power calculations. The stopping
power calculations are based on DFT (Density Functional Theory) [1].
