Characterization and Electrical Properties of Electroplymerized Films of Substituted Macrocyclic Systems O. Hild, N. Trombach, W. Michaelis, D. Schlettwein, D. Wöhrle University of Bremen, Institute of Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry, P/O Box 330440, D-28334 Bremen, Germany Electropolymerization of macrocycles like tetraaminophthalocyanines, tetraaminophenylporphyrins and diaminotriazolohemiporphyrazines on ITO gave colored thin-films up to a few micrometer thickness. All prepared films were air stable and insoluble in water and organic solvents. The electropolymerization was carried out potentiostatically and potentiodynamically. Potentiostatic electropolymerization led to thicker films than the potentiodynamic polymerization. In the potentiodynamic polymerised films more charge carriers remained than in the potentiostatically produced films. Further characterizations were carried out by UV/Vis, IR and AFM. An influence of the polymerization conditions on the film morphology and conductivity was found. The electrical properties were characterized by cyclic voltammetry and (photo-)conductivity measurements in air.
