Electrical properties of Lithium-doped Alq3 layers — •Ansgar Werner, Andreas Nollau, Martin Pfeiffer, and Karl Leo — Institut für Angewandte Photophysik, TU Dresden, D-01062 Dresden, Germany
Lithium fluoride interlayers have been shown in the literature to improve electron injection in organic LEDs with Alq3 (Al tris-8-(hydroxyquinoline)) electron transport layer. A possible mechanism is that the LiF is decomposed upon evaporation of the aluminum top contact, releasing Li into the Alq3. We here study the doping of Alq3 with lithium. Particularly, we investigate the dependence of the conductivity and thermopower coefficient on the doping level and correlate the findings with results from thermally stimulated current measurements. Experiments are carried out in HV and UHV environment in order to evaluate the influence of residual gases like water on the doping process.
