Photocurrent spectra of bilayers and blends of the organic donor-acceptor system CuPc/C60 — •T. Stübinger and W. Brütting — Experimental Physics II, University of Bayreuth, D-95440 Bayreuth, Germany
The organic donor-acceptor system with Cu-phthalocyanine (CuPc) as electron donor and Buckminsterfullerene (C60) as electron acceptor features complementary absorption spectra of both materials in the visible spectral range. Therefore systematic investigations on thickness-dependent effects (e.g. optical interference, influence of exciton diffusion) are possible both in bilayer systems and in blend systems with various mixing ratios of the two materials. The more extended and effectively increased dissociation interface implies increased quantum efficiencies for the photovoltaic effect in blend systems in comparison to the separated bilayers. With photocurrent spectra we compared the two different device structures by a systematic variation of layer thicknesses and mixing ratios of both organic materials.
