Fluctuation effects in disordered Peierls chains — •Peter Kopietz and Lorenz Bartosch — Inst. fuer theor. Physik, Uni Frankfurt, Robert-Mayer-Str. 8-10, 60054 Frankfurt

We review our recent work on fluctuation effects in disordered Peierls chains [1-4], which is based on numerical and exact analytical solutions of the one-dimensional fluctuating gap model with various types of probability distributions for the fluctuating gap. We pay particular attention to the effect of phase and amplitude fluctations on the low-energy behavior of the average density of states, which determines the low-temperature thermodynamics of the model.
