Statistical distributions of interaction matrix elements in chaotic quantum systems — •Juan Diego Urbina and Klaus Richter — Max-Planck-institute for Physics of Complex Systems, Noethnitzer Str. 38, 01187 Dresden, Germany
In recent years considerable atention has been drawn to the description, both analytical and numerical, of posible universal features in interacting many-body quantum systems with diffusive or chaotic single-particle dynamics. In this respect the statistics of two-body interaction matrix elements plays a special rôle. We numerically compute this distribution for a system of particles interacting via short-range potentials in a chaotic quatum system, namely, a conformal billiard.
We discuss deviations in our results from Gaussian matrix element distributions expected from random matrix arguments.
