We present an example demonstrating that CDW-to-CDW and SDW-to-SDW quantum phase transitions driven by tunneling between states characterized by charge and spin density waves of different symmetries can occur in finite commensurate systems of strongly correlated electrons. These transitions could be studied experimentally e.g. by optical absorption in mesoscopic systems.
