Vibrating Reed Studies of Superconductors with Anisotropic Order Parameter — •A. Karelina, H.F. Braun, M. Endres, W. Ettig, M. Kulic, and D. Rainer — Physikalische Institut, Universitaet Bayreuth, D-95440 Bayreuth
Pinning of flux lines on point-like defects depends on both the magnitude and symmetry of the order parameter. In a material with d-wave pairing the lines of constant pinning potential deviate from circles. This results in an additional transverse force on the vortices. The vibrating reed with two degrees of freedom gives the possibility to measure this transverse force and anisotropy of the potential. We have built such a mechanical oscillator system setup with two degrees of freedom and present first measurements on single crystals of high-Tc superconductors.
