We investigate numerically the behaviour of a spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic (AFM) anisotropic Heisenberg chain in an external magnetic field transverse to the chain direction. The hamiltonian is given by: H=∑ SixSi+1x + SiySi+1y + Δ SizSi+1z − h Six . In order to find the phase diagram of this model we use the density matrix renormalization group technique (DMRG). We calculate numerically the low energy spectrum.
