The X-ray spectrometer/polarimeter installed at TEXTOR is used to measure the spectra of He-like argon in the core plasma. The spectra contain contributions from different ionisation stages: from excited He-like ions and doubly excited Li-like ions. The He-like ions provide information on the ion temperature and the plasma velocity (via Doppler broadening and shift), as well as the ratio H/He-like ions from the intensity ratio between singlet and triplet lines. The doubly excited Li-like ions are used to measure the ratio Li/He like ions, as well as the electron temperature.
The spectra were modelled using rate coefficients for collisional excitation, including cascades, obtained from R-matrix code calculations, the satellite intensities were taken from SUPERSTRUCTURE code calculations. The wavelengths of the He-like lines were taken from all order relativistic calculations [1], the satellites were adapted from EBIT measurements. Profile effects of the plasma were taken into account by integrating over the line of sight. Theoretical rates have slightly been adjusted in order to achieve internal consistency.
