Sawteeth are periodic oscillations of the central temperature, density and other plasma parameters. The Soft X-Ray diagnostic (SXR) with its high time resolution is an ideal instrument to resolve dynamic processes like sawteeth. A description of the present SXR diagnostic and planned improvements will be given. The goal of this work is an improved understanding of sawtooth occurrence conditions and the tailoring of sawteeth by using ECRH and ECCD. It is shown that the sawtooth amplitude and frequency can be changed dramatically with relatively small amounts of ECRH power (i.e. 880 kW in a discharge with total heating power of 5.3 MW). Here, experimental results will be presented.
