DILATONIC MONOPOLES AND “HAIRY” BLACK HOLES — •Betti Hartmann1, Yves Brihaye2, and Jutta Kunz3 — 1Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Durham, United Kingdom — 2Faculté des Sciences, Université de Mons-Hainaut, Belgium — 3Fachbereich Physik, Universität Oldenburg, Germany
We study gravitating monopoles and non-abelian black holes of SU(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs theory coupled to a massless dilaton, which appears naturally in many unified theories, including string theory. The domain of existence of these solutions is bounded and decreases with increasing dilaton coupling strength. The critical solutions of this system are Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton solutions.
