Linearized dynamics of the Randall-Sundrum two-brane model — •Andreas Rathke1, Andrei Barvinsky2, and Claus Kiefer1 — 1Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität zu Köln — 2Lebedev-Institut, Moskau
Although much effort has been devoted to the study of the linearized dynamics of the Randall-Sundrum type 1 (RS1) two-brane model during the last two years, this topic cannot be considered as being fully understood. Most studies have neglected the role of the massive modes for the effective four-dimensional gravity on the branes. We present a treatment of linearized gravity in the RS1 model taking into account the influence of the massive modes, which turn out to play a crucial role for the dynamics. The four-dimensional massless degrees of freedom of the model are identified. The action for the four-dimensional effective theory is constructed. This effective action is used to investigate the stability of the two-brane system.
