Dynamics and Cosmic Acceleration of Brane Universes — •Mariusz Dabrowski — Institute of Physics, University of Szczecin, ul. Wielkopolska 15, 70-451 Szczecin, Poland
We review the main ideas of the brane universe scenario in both the original Hořava-Witten framework and the Randall-Sundrum framework. Then, we concentrate on the dynamics of Randall-Sundrum brane models with both isotropic (Friedmann) and anisotropic geometries. In order to achieve this we apply the method of dynamical systems and, in particular, we reduce the system into a 2-dimensional Hamiltonian system. The advantage of this approach is the possibility to apply canonical methods to elaborate quantum cosmology of brane universes. In the suitable phase diagrams we clearly present the regions of cosmic acceleration and horizon problem avoidance.
