A Local and Generally Covariant Approach to Quantum Fields on Manifolds with Many New Results — •Rainer Verch — Theoretische Physik, Universität Göttingen
We report on new developments in quantum field theory on curved spacetime which are based on the concept of a local and generally covariant quantum field theory. This concept can be formulated on a very general model-independent level; one of its consequences is a spin-statistics theorem in the setting of general quantum field theory on curved spacetime. Moreover, this concept bears fruits in allowing for a definition of Wick-ordered and time-ordered products for quantum fields in curved spacetime in such a way that the perturbative construction of interacting quantum field theories can be carried out in a similar manner as on flat spacetime, and with no more renormalization ambiguities than in the flat spacetime case.
