The Standard Model from Intersecting Brane Worlds — •Ralph Blumenhagen — Humboldt Universität, Berlin

Type I string compactifications with D-branes intersecting at angles give rise to effective four dimensional theories with interesting phenomenological properties. An overview on recent developments in string model building is presented showing how close one can get in deriving the non-supersymmetric respectively supersymmetric standard model from string theory.
