Measuring the transverse emittance at the Photo Injector Test Facility at DESY Zeuthen — •Velizar Miltchev1, Frank Stephan1, and Ivan Tsakov2 — 1DESY Zeuthen, Platanenallee 6, 15738 Zeuthen — 2INRNE, 72 Tsarigrad Rd., Sofia 1784, Bulgaria
The research goal at the Photo Injector Test Facility at DESY Zeuthen is the development of electron sources with optimized transverse and longitudinal emittance. Such electron sources have to face the needs of the newest projects in the fields of Free Electron Lasers. In this contribution we introduce the methods and the means for transverse emittance measurements at PITZ. Of special interest is the fact, that our solutions could be applied to electron beams with high space charge and also to an arbitrary distribution in the transverse phase space.
