Higgs Production in Photon - Photon Collisions at TESLA — •Aura Rosca — Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY, D-15738 Zeuthen, Germany
We investigate the production of a light Standard Model Higgs boson in polarized photon-photon collisions at the TESLA linear collider (LC). High energy photons, at luminosities comparable to those in e+e− collisions, can be obtained by Compton scattering of laser photons off the LC electron and positron beams. The cross sections of the γ γ → h0 → b b signal process, as well as of the γ γ → b b (c c) (g) background processes strongly depend on the polarization of the colliding photons. A high degree of circular polarization for the colliding photons can be achieved by polarizing the electron and positron beams, and the laser beam.
The analysis presented is based on realistic simulation of the photon-photon spectra, and includes detector simulations.
