Phenomenology Of The Proton Structure Function F2 At Low Q2 — •Ulrich Fricke — Notkestrasse 85 22607 Hamburg
Phenomenological studies of the proton structure function F2 and the total cross-section, measured in e+p scattering using the ZEUS detector at HERA, are presented. Particular emphasis is placed on the transition from hadronic type behavior at Q2 ≈ 0 GeV2 to the deep inelastic scattering regime (Q2 ≫ 1 GeV2).
The transition from the deep inelastic scattering regime to hadronic type behavior at Q2 ≈ 0 GeV2 is illustrated by the derivatives dln(F2)/dln(1/x) for fixed Q2 and dF2/dlog10(Q2) for fixed x.
The cross-section measurements at low values of Q2 are used to extrapolate the cross-section to Q2 =0 GeV2. The results are compared to the direct photoproduction measurements at HERA at Q2 =0 GeV2.
