The Central Fiber Tracker of the Upgraded DØ Detector — •Thomas Nunnemann — Fermilab, MS 357, P.O. Box 500, Batavia, IL 60510, U.S.A.
For the new run at the upgraded Fermilab Tevatron collider, the DØ experiment is operating an entirely new tracking system based on a silicon micro-strip detector and a central fiber tracker located inside a 2 Tesla super-conducting solenoid.
The central tracker covering a range in pseudo-rapidity of about |η| < 2, consist of approx. 78,000 scintillating fibers, which are arranged on 8 cylindrical super-layers. The fast read-out with Visible Light Photon Counters (VLPC) allows to employ reconstructed tracks for trigger decisions at Level 1.
In this talk the construction and read-out, as well as the trigger and track reconstruction performance will be discussed.
