The dinuclear system concept is used to describe the evaporation residue cross sections for the production of superheavy nuclei and charge and mass distributions from quasifission in the same reactions. The dinuclear system evolves to fusion by the transfer of nucleons between the clusters and decays with some probability into fragments with a given mass and charge asymmetry which is the quasifission. Calculated evaporation residue cross sections and mass and charge distributions from quasifission are compared with available data from experiments at JINR in Dubna and at GSI in Darmstadt.
