Measurement off Virtual Compton scattering off the proton — •D. Trnka — II. Physikalisches Institut, Heinrich-Buff-Ring 16, 35392 Giessen
Virtual Compton scattering (VCS), γ p→ e+ e− p, provides information on the nucleon electromagnetic form factor and therefore allows to investigate electromagnetic properties of the proton and its resonances (e.g.,Δ and D13). Even though a large fraction of the VCS cross section is determined by the Bethle-Heitler (BH) process, there are kinematical regimes where BH is suppressed so that VCS off the proton can be studied. The γ p→ e+ e− p reaction was investigated at the MAMI tagged photon beam facility. The lepton pairs were detected with the photon spectrometer TAPS. Preliminary results will be presented and compared to theoretical predictions [1].
