For the REX-ISOLDE-Project at CERN an IH-drift-tube-linac is serving as booster accelerator, which is similar to the IH-accelerators of the Lead-LINAC at CERN and the GSI-HLI. It uses 20 gaps to accelerate ions with a mass to charge ratio up to 4.5 from an energy of 300keV/u to 1.2 MeV/u.
The poster will give an overview about the functionality of this kind of rf-accelerator as well as the presentation of beam test results.
