Application of nuclear physics reconstruction techniques to medical imaging — •Boris Wagner, Reinhard Stock, and Dieter Pommerrenig — August-Euler Str. 6, 60486 Frankfurt

The problem of three-dimensional reconstruction from two-dimensional data is prevalent and well known. Stereoscopic reconstruction techniques were succesfully used in visual particle and heavy ion collision experiments such as NA35 at CERN. Due to todays computer power and the rapidly increasing progress in pattern recognition and computer vision there a new approaches in this field.

In this talk we discuss the possible application of new reconstruction techniques in nuclear physics experiments. Furthermore the problem of generalisation and implementation in other fields such as medical imaging will be discussed. As an application we present the status of ongoing work with planar low energy x-ray images obtained at small stereo angles.
