Perspectives for Hadron Physics Experiments at the Cooler Synchrotron COSY — •Dieter Prasuhn — Institut fuer Kernphysik, Forschungszentrum Juelich, Postfach 1913, D-52425 Juelich

The Cooler Synchrotron COSY is in operation since 1993. With more than 7200 operational hours per year and about 80% dedicated for user beam time the experimental groups gain from the achieved reliability of 95%. Four different internal and three external target and detector areas cover a wide range of experimental equipment for different types of experiments. Hadron physics as well as spallation related experiments are carried out. Angular and momentum resolution of the experiments are increased by beam cooling at injection energy with the electron cooler and at high energies with stochastic cooling. The flexibility of COSY allows the adjustment of beam parameters to a wide range of experimental requirements. Up to now experiments were carried out with unpolarized and polarized protons. In the next step the bandwidth of physical investigations is extended by the acceleration of unpolarized and polarized deuterons.

The present status as well as the perspectives for the near future will be presented.
