The intra-cavity Compton-polarimeter of the A4-experiment — •Yoshio Imai — Institut für Kernphysik, Universität Mainz
The A4-collaboration of the Dept. of Nuclear Physics, Univ. of Mainz, is conducting experiments on parity violation in the electron-nucleon-scattering which require the use of polarized electron beams. For the interpretation of the results, the beam polarization is currently measured with the destructive Møller-scattering method. In order to provide non-destructive on-line-measurement of the polarization, the setup of a Compton-backscattering polarimeter is prepared. After reviewing the fundamentals of Compton-scattering, the layout of the planned intra-cavity-design is discussed and a short overwiew of the requirements and expected performance is given.
