Static Magnetic Moment of the Δ+(1232) — •Martin Kotulla — II. Physikalisches Institut, Heinrich-Buff-Ring 16, 35392 Giessen

Static magnetic moments of baryons are important properties which provide a crucial test for hadron structure calculations. SU(3) e.g., predicts µΔ = Q(Δ) µp for the Δ isobars. Information on µΔ+ can be obtained from the observation of a γ transition within the Δ resonance. Therefore, the reaction γ p→πγ  p was measured with the BaF2 calorimeter TAPS at the Mainz Microtron accelerator facility. The extraction of µΔ+, however, requires the application of a reaction model. The experimental results will be presented and the feasibility to extract µΔ+ based on theoretical models [1],[2] will be discussed.
