Optimal control of photon assisted tunneling between quantum dots using genetic algorithms — •Ilia Grigorenko, Martin Garcia, and K.H. Bennemann — Institut für Theoretische Physik der Freien Universität Berlin, Arnimallee 14, 14195 Berlin, Germany
We analyze theoretically the electron tunneling induced by an ultrashort electric field between two metallic reservoirs coupled through a double quantum dot. We solve the equations of motion for the reduced density matrix to determine the transferred charge, which is a functional of the external field. Then, we use genetic algorithms to determine the optimal shape of the electric field which maximizes the transferred charge. Results show that, due to the presence of Rabi-oscillations, a sequence of pulses of different shapes is needed. Such pulse sequence leads to a remarkable enhancement of the current with respect to a single (Gaussian or square) pulse. We analyze the cases of interdot Coulomb repulsion U = 0 and U → ∞.
