Thermodynamics considers kinetic energy to be an extensive variable which is therefore proportional to the number N of particles. In this contribution we present a pure quantum state of N non-interacting bosons for which the kinetic energy increases quadratically with N.

This quantum state is an s-wave in a 3N-dimensional space and is completely symmetric under exchange of coordinates of the particles. This state could be experimentally realized using a Bose-Einstein condensate.

In order to investigate this effect we calculate some characteristic quantities of this quantum state such as the average kinetic energy and the width of the spatial distribution as function of the number N of particles and the parameters that define this state. We investigate a way to obtain the reduced density matrix corresponding to MN particles and calculate some M-particle quantities. The temporal evolution of such state is also discussed.

We show that this enhancement effect is related to the quantum centrifugal potential whose strength is quadratic in the number of particles.
