2D helium in electromagnetic fields — •Javier Madroñero and Andreas Buchleitner — Max-Planck Institut für Physik komplexer Systeme
We present an ab initio quantum treatment of
the two-dimensional helium atom exposed to electromagnetic
fields. Our approach combines Floquet theory with the complex dilation of
the
Hamiltonian, and explores the dynamical symmetries of the planar three
body
Coulomb problem. The Hamiltonian is represented in a suitable basis set
which
induces strong selection rules [1].
For near resonant driving of doubly excited Rydberg states,
this leads
to a complex-symmetric, generalized eigenvalue problem of rather high
dimension, which has to be solved using advanced techniques of parallel
programming.
