Dirac — A package for studying the properties and behaviour of hydrogen–like ions — •Andrey Surzhykov, Stephan Fritzsche, Thorsten Inghoff, and Peter Koval — Fachbereich Physik, Universität Gh Kassel, D-34132 Kassel, Germany
We present the Dirac program – a toolbox of Maple procedures which are designed for studying the properties and the dynamical behaviour of hydrogen–like ions. This package provides an interactive environment to utilize various representations of wave functions in both, the nonrelativistic as well as relativistic framework. Dirac has been developed in our group during the last years and now supports the direct (and symbolic) computation of a whole variety of properties: energy levels, wave functions, cross sections, decay rates and others.
Recently, the Dirac package has been applied in a number of case studies on the structure and dynamics of highly–charged ions. For the electron capture into the bare high–Z ions, for instance, Dirac helped us in a detailed analysis of the polarization [1] and correlation [2] properties of the characteristics x–ray radiation.
