HIGH-BIT-RATE QUANTUM COMMUNICATION — •Victor Kozlov and Matthias Freyberger — Abteilung fuer Quantenphysik, Universitaet Ulm, D-89069 Ulm, Germany
Optical solitons are proposed as candidates for transportation of quantum information through commercially available optical fibers. The solitons are treated quantum-mechanically and are shown to be very reliable as carriers of quantum information. Quantum-mechanical encoding and decoding of optical solitons is discussed in detail.
