Different elastic polypropylene were synthesized with new metallocene catalysts, activated by MAO (MethylAluminiumOxane) or borate. Depending on polymerization conditions a great variety of PPs with different stereoregularities and molecular weight distributions were polymerized with different physical structures and properties. The amount of stereo errors in the chains of these PPs influence the degree of crystallinity, resulting in either semi-crystalline flexible polymers or nearly amorphous highly elastic ones. Results obtained with Synchrotron and Guinier WAXS, DMA and SFM especially on elastic PP grades are presented. Stress strain measurements on highly elastic samples, such as the totally x-ray-amorphous ones, show the great potential of these novel PPs as a thermoplastic rubber material with high recovery and small hysteresis. These PPs also show pronounced strain induced crystallization accordance with well known conventional rubber.
