Nucleation and Crystallization of Polypropylene — •Claudia Feldhuesen and Werner Wenig — Gerhard-Mercator-Universitaet Duisburg, Fakultaet fuer Naturwissenschaften, Angewandte Physik
Nucleation and crystallization of polypropylene was examined isothermally at several crystallization temperatures using Wide Angle X-Ray Scattering (WAXS), Polarization Light Microscopy (PLM) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).
Using PLM, a molecular fractionation is found which is discussed in detail. WAXS-measurements were used to monitor lamellae growth, so that time-dependent crystallization can be discussed in detail. Crystallization enthalpy, melting and crystallization temperatures were determined using DSC.
