The energy landscape of supercooled liquids and its relevance for the dynamics — •Burkhard Doliwa1 and Andreas Heuer21Max-Planck-Institut fuer Polymerforschung, Ackermannweg 10, 55128 Mainz — 2Institut für Physikalische Chemie, Schlossplatz 4/7 , D-48149 M"unster

In recent years much progress has been achieved in elucidating the nature of the glass transition in terms of the properties of the underlying potential energy landscape. In this talk results are presented which focus on the temporal sequence of inherent structures, visited during a MD simulation. To which degree are the individual transitions activated? Is it possible to map the temperature dependence of the diffusion constant on the properties of the transitions between inherent structures? In particular we argue that for studying the relation between the energy landscape and the dynamics it is advantageous to study sufficiently small systems.
