Perpendicularly magnetized thin films and superlattices are very interesting for many applications. But for good magnetic properties such systems must have a good structural quality. In order to find the best growth conditions [Fe(1ML)/Pt(1ML)]n superlattices were epitaxially grown by MBE on MgO (001) at different growth temperatures and then they were characterized by out-of-plane and in-plane X-ray diffraction. The measurements were performed using double-axis diffractometer based on rotating-anode generator and on beamline W1.1 at HASYLAB. For superlattice grown at 550oC the L10-type structure was determined with lattice parameters a=b=3.885Å and c=3.71Å. The order parameter S was calculated from integrated intensities of Bragg peaks and for the superlattice with the highest structural quality we obtain an order parameter of S=0.58. It was found that the structural quality drastically increases with rising growth temperature. This work is supported by DFG and SFB 491.
