A stability analysis of travelling fronts is performed analytically for a piecewise linear reaction-diffusion system under an external field. Analytical solutions are obtained for the propagating front, the front velocity and the growth rate of perturbations. When the null-cline parameter and the external field are small enough front has an oscillating behaviour. Such a wave is little different from one in an oscillatory medium. In fact, the smallness of the null-cline parameter implies that we have quasi-oscillatory regime.
