Improved XC-Energies Extracted from Quantum Dot Ground States — •Andreas Wensauer and Ulrich Rössler — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Regensburg, 93040 Regensburg
Our aim is the improvement of XC-energies for two-dimensional electron systems. To get reliable ground state (GS) energies and densities we apply advanced exact diagonalization (ED) techniques to few-electron quantum dots (QDs). These calculations cover a variety of electron numbers (up to eight), confinement energies, and magnetic fields.
In a second step we solve the Kohn-Sham (KS) equations to reproduce the reference GS densities and obtain the exact XC-potentials which, due to the Hohenberg-Kohn (HK) theorem, are functionals of the GS densities. Assuming the local density approximation (LDA) we are able to calculate the XC-energies which reproduce the XC-potentials for each set of parameters. Finally we compare our results with XC-energies from the literature.
