Broadening of Composite Fermion Landau levels due to a random magnetic field — •Riccardo Mazzarello, Stefan Kettemann, Eros Mariani, and Bernhard Kramer — I.Institut fuer Theoretische Physik, Universitaet Hamburg, 20355 Hamburg, Germany

In the Composite Fermion (CF) description of the FQHE, the many body ground states at fractional filling factors are mapped onto integer QH states of CF’s. CF’s experience a fictitiuos magnetic field proportional to their density in addition to the external one. A random, scalar impurity potential induces fluctuations in the CF’s density which give rise to a static RMF at the mean field level. We consider the density of states of CF’s subject to a strong magnetic field plus a random one. The broadening of Landau levels due to the RMF is studied in the pure quantum limit.
