The present paper summarizes recent progress which concerns diffusion in binary intermetallics. Particular attention will be devoted to intermetallics with L1₂-, B2-, L1₀-, D0₃- and cubic Laves phase structures and to some silicides. Relevant factors which influence diffusion such as crystal structure, state of order, temperature, composition and some consequences for atomic mechanisms of diffusion will be mentioned.
