An electrochemical method for the preparation of a nanostructured palladium clusters is presented after (Reetz et. al. Chem. Eur. J., 2001, 7 No. 5, 1084-1094). The clusters are prepared in an electrolysis cell and are stabilised by tetraoctylammonium bromide, which is also used as surfactant. Different clusters size in the range 2- 10nm can be obtained depending directly on the current density used .The influence of the other parameters on the cluster size and the size distribution such as temperature, solvent, distance between electrodes, duration of electrolysis will be presented. The characterisation of the Pd clusters has been performed using TEM, HREM, XRD and elemental analysis. It will be shown that a narrow size distribution is possible by setting the electrolysis parameters.
