Magnetic and Structural Properties of the Arrays of Co Nanowires and Co-Ag Multilayers — •Hamid R. Khan1,2 und Petrikowski Kerstin1 — 1FEM, Abt.: Materialphysik, Katharinenstrasse 17, 73525 Schwaebisch Gmuend — 2Department of Physics, University of Tennessee, TN., U.S.A.
The fabrication of the nanosized ferromagnetic particles and multilayers and their properties such as coercivity (Hc), squareness (Mr/Ms),anisotropic magnetization and GMR is important for the applications in high density perpendicular and quantum storage media and micromagnetic sensors(1). The isolated nanosized 18 nm diameter nanowires of Co and Ag-Co nanomultilayers are electrodeposited in the pores of anodic alumina. The Co nanowires consist of hcp phase with c-axis orientation perpendicular to the substrate surface and have an enhanced easy axis Hc value of 1549 Oe and Mr/Ms-ratio of 0.96.Whereas the Ag-Co nanomultilayers show Hc value of 464 Oe and Mr/Ms-ratio of.0.24. The magnetic and structural properties of the nanowires and nanomultilayer arrays are compared with the continuos electrodeposited Co film. The GMR data of nanomultilayer arrays will also be dicussed. 1. H.R. Khan and K. Petrikowski; J. Magn Magn.
