Thin film epitaxy of Sr2FeMoO6 and Andreev-reflection spectroscopy — •Daniel Reisinger, Jan Boris Philipp, Mitja Schonecke, Andreas Erb, Lambert Alff, and Rudolf Gross — Walther-Meißner-Institut, Walther-Meißner-Str. 8, 85748 Garching
In the group of the A2BB’O6 double-perovskite materials, at the moment Sr2FeMoO6 is of great interest [1], because of its high TC and predicted half-metallic nature [2]. The high spin polarisation of the conduction electrons may be useful for spinelectronic devices at room temperature. Thin epitaxial films were prepared by pulsed laser deposition on single crystal substrates. By in-situ RHEED (Reflection High Energy Electron Diffraction) the possibility of layer-by-layer growth was verified. The surface morphology was analysed by atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. With high-resolution X-ray-diffraction superstructure peaks due to Fe/Mo ordering were detected. For exact transport measurements a well controlled film epitaxy and atomically smooth interfaces are essential. Andreev-reflection spectroscopy has been performed to measure the spin polarisation of the thin films at low temperatures.
