The aim of this study is to induce lateral magnetic modulations in Fe/Cr multilayers by nano-structuring the top ferromagnetic layers and to investigate them using scattering methods. The Fe/Cr multilayers are produced by MBE with a Cr thickness of 11 A in order to have antferromagnetic coupling between the Fe layers. The coupling was observed with the MOKE. The nanostructutres were obtained by electron beam lithography and ion beam etching (period 400nm, deepness 10nm). The structural characterization is done by x-ray reflectometry at a synchrotron source, using anomalous scattering to enhance the contrast between Fe and Cr layers. The magnetic modulations are investigated by off-specular scattering of polarized neutrons.
