Soft Magnetic Properties of Bulk Amorphous FeAlGaPCBSi Samples — •Jarmila Degmova, Stefan Roth, Jürgen Eckert, and Ludwig Schultz — Institute of Solid State and Materials Research Dresden, P.O. Box 270016, 01171 Dresden, Germany
Bulk amorphous FeAlGaPCBSi samples in the shape of small discs (diameter of 10 mm and thickness of 3 mm) were prepared from melt-spun ribbons by high-energy ball milling and subsequent compaction of the resulting powders at elevated temperatures in the supercooled liquid region above the glass transition temperature Tg but below Tx the temperature of the onset of crystallization. In that region the viscosity of the alloy is low and heating of samples in that region allows us to reduce the stress field induced in the material during the ball-milling while the amorphous structure of samples is still maintained. Thermal and soft magnetic properties of the initial ribbons and powders as well as the resulting bulk specimens are discussed in this work.
