Thin layer of PPV (poly-p-phenylenevinylene) have been by means of spin-coating deposited on Si substrate cantilevers. In a vibrating reed apparatus (electrostatical excitation and otical detection) the temperature dependence of vibration frequency and internal friction of the composite have been measured in order to study the elastic modulus and relaxation phenomena of the polymer layer during temperature cycling programs between 90 K and 570 K. Particularly, evaluating the temperature and frequency dependence, the typical relaxations before and after polymerisation have been examined. In addition irreversible processes in the film are observed during polymerisation. The results are compared with data from DSC and DTA measurements.
