Superconductivity in a Dissipative Fermi System — •Philip Howell1 and Andy Schofield2 — 1Theorie der Kondensierten Materie, Universität Karlsruhe, Postfach 6980, 76128 Karlsruhe — 2School of Physics and Astronomy, University of Birmingham, Birmingham B15 2TT, UK
We consider a model of non-interacting dissipative fermions which shows a zero-temperature transition from non-Fermi-liquid to Fermi liquid behaviour as a function of number density. The two phases are separated by a quantum critical point with no associated order, and we interpret the phase diagram in terms of an effective density of states. We consider the superconducting instability of the dissipative gas and calculate the density-dependence of Tc and the upper critical field. We argue that this behaviour is relevant to that observed in the low carrier-density superconductor SrTiO3.
