Absolute Spin-Valve Effect with Superconducting Proximity Structures — •Wolfgang Belzig1, Daniel Huertas-Hernandez2, and Yuli V. Nazarov2 — 1Departement für Physik, Universität Basel, Schweiz — 2Department of Applied Physics, TU Delft, Niederlande
We investigate spin dependent transport in hybrid superconductor(S)–normal-metal(N)–ferromagnet(F) structures. In particular we show, that the spectral properties of a normal metal sandwiched between a ferromagnetic insulator and a superconductor depend on the polarization of the ferromagnet. Following this observation, we propose to measure a voltage-controled absolute spin-valve effect in a system consisting of two coupled SNF-trilayer structures. Our results are also valid for non-collinear magnetic configurations of the ferromagnets.
